Our Story

How Aro Got Started

How Aro Got Started

Back in the spring of 1989, I met Candy while we were both working in a restaurant. I’m Karan, and I’m from India. Candy is from El Salvador. We didn’t just fall in love with each other — we also fell in love with great food. After years of running Indian restaurants, we opened Aro Latin in 2014 to share our passion for Latin American cuisine.

A Taste of Two Worlds

A Taste of Two Worlds
Before Aro opened, Karan and Candy traveled through Mexico, Central, and South America. They tasted local dishes, learned from cooks, and brought home flavors they loved. Today, those tastes live on in every dish at Aro Latin, located at 1019 Mission St, South Pasadena, CA.

A Family-Owned Culinary Team

A Family-Owned Culinary Team
Aro is built on family and talent. Karan brings his skills as a master Indian chef. Candy, a nurse and baker, creates Latin-inspired desserts. They teamed up with top chefs Rocio Camacho and Conrad Aguilar to make a bold, flavorful menu. Together, they serve up fresh takes on Latin classics. Our expert mixologist is Michael Christian Allen. At our tequila and wine bar, you’ll find unique drinks designed to match the food. It’s a full Latin dining experience — all under one roof.

Why You Should Visit Aro
